The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) has unveiled plans to launch a self-funded medical school in September.
A five-year undergraduate MBBS degree programme at the new school will cater for 35 international and full fee-paying students. The university will join only 34 others across the UK which offer medical degrees. Teaching will take place at UCLan’s facilities in Preston and Burnley.
UCLan aims to forge links between the new medical school and healthcare providers in the region, including East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, Lancashire Care Foundation NHS Trust, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust and GP practices.
