World-renowned academic and engineer, Professor G.Q. Max Lu, has taken up post as the fifth President and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Surrey, following the departure of Professor Sir Christopher Snowden at the end of last year. Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Kearney, will take up the role of Provost.
Professor Lu, President and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Surrey, commented: “I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead such an exceptional organisation. The momentum behind Surrey is palpable, so I am looking forward to working with staff and students to grow the University’s reputation as a truly international institution.
“Although the University of Surrey has earned its place as one of the top higher education establishments in the UK, there is huge scope to develop our reputation on a global scale. World-leading research and initiatives such as our 5G Innovation Centre have enhanced the reputation of the University, however there is considerable potential to maximise international research collaborations and partnerships.”
