Progress on Hull and Sheffield Hallam UTCs

Work has begun on the University of Hull’s £9.5 million Humber University Technical College (UTC). Lord Baker attended the ground-breaking ceremony for the project,  which will which will create 600 student places and 220 jobs in the region. It will open to students in September 2015.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Hallam University has been given the go-ahead for a £10 million UTC, which is due to open on the site of the former Don Valley Stadium in September 2016. It will train up to 600 young people in the skills needed for the sports science, health and digital technology sectors.
