The changing size and shape of UK higher education is traced in a new report covering the ten years up to 2011-12, including the period when the sector was preparing for significant funding reforms.
Universities UK's annual Patterns and Trends in UK Higher Education report shows how the number of young full-time undergraduates grew over the years covered, while part-time and mature student numbers declined.
The report also provides details of growth in the number of international students studying for a UK degree at a British university or a partner institution abroad, the rising number of academic staff, growth in the number of students enrolled at private institutions, and changes in HE finance.
