The University of Leicester is to receive £85,000 from the Getty Foundation's Keeping it Modern programme to spend on a long-term conservation plan for its Stirling and Gowan-designed Engineering Building. The plan will enable the university to maintain the building, while conserving its status as an architectural icon. Recently the roof and glazed facades were replaced, which involved upgrading 2,500 glass panels while preserving the intricate diamond shaped geometry of the original design.
