The biggest overhaul of graduate employment data for more than 20 years will provide a more accurate picture of graduate careers, the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) has announced.
A new Memorandum of Understanding between the University of East Anglia and the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) has paved the way for student exchanges between the two institutions.
The MoU cements the relationship between the two universities and will enable UEA PhD students to have the experience of studying for their degree at both UEA and SUSTech. UEA and SUSTech academic staff will jointly supervise students and will also work together on joint research collaborations, initially in the area of environmental sciences. There will also be opportunities for undergraduate exchange students from both universities to study at both institutions.
UEA Vice-Chancellor Professor David Richardson said, “At UEA we deliver quality degree courses that allow our students and graduates to thrive in an ever changing global environment. That is our goal but it cannot be achieved alone. In an increasingly competitive world we must work together internationally with strategic partners to provide unique experiences and added value in order to achieve this goal of providing the very best educational experience possible. I am honoured to be able to sign this agreement and look forward to building on a productive partnership with the Southern University of Science and Technology.”
Professor Richardson added that universities are significant contributors to economic growth and partnerships between universities around the world are key to meeting global challenges and growing knowledge-based economies.
SUSTech President Professor Chen Shiyi said: "International engagement is pivotal to SUSTech’s vision as a 21st-century global university. The agreement signed today will lead to not only a joint effort for our postgraduate education but also the beginning of substantial exchange and cooperation between the two universities. I look forward to a very fruitful and successful partnership with UEA."
